Aris Arlantico, a project officer of the Organic Development Project of PREDA Fair Trade, together with Mr. Alex Corpus Hermoso, Preda Programme Director and Fair Trade Project Manager will be attending the National Mango Conference to be held in Bohol on April 27-29, 2009. The confrence was organized by the Bohol Multipurpose Cooperative in corridnation with the Philippines’ Mango Industry Foundation and the Department of Agriculture. The congress aims to establish strong partnership with all mango stakeholders, showcase the current trends and techniques on mango production including organic farming and help chart the future of the mango industry in the country.
In the event, Preda is invited to give a presentation on “ORGANIC MANGO PRODUCTION” and to share Preda’s skills and technical knowledge on integrated organic mango farming by giving an input on the use of organic sprays and cultural management. Preda will also emphasize the market demand on organic mangoes both local and abroad and the status of research studies conducted on organic mango production to encourage the mango stakeholders to shift into environment friendly and health wise method of mango outsourcing. Preda will also give input about Fair Trade as a component of organizing the Fair Trade Organic Mango Growers Association of the Philippines. Interested groups are welcome to join the initiative.
